    Hi,

Like all of you I've been searching for a form filler for google chrome for a long time now and so this weekend I decided to spend a few hours to write my own plugin.

So, here it is.. an extremely basic alpha version the Chrome Form Filler for those who can't wait any longer. It's just hot out of the oven (because I've only got to spend a few hours writing this) - but it gets the job done for me.. hopefully would do for you!

To download it, you can go here:
    http://www.chromeformfiller.com/setup.exe

Or you can see a screenshot here:
    http://www.chromeformfiller.com/screenshot.gif

I've also written a small brutish program to import my roboform contacts into this chrome plugin.

This is not my full time job so I'm not sure if this will ever be as complete as Roboform.. that's why I'm willing to release the source code of this on sourceforge if some other developer has more time or interest (please contact me).

Anyway, if you like it then please don't mind buying me below
    http://www.chromeformfiller.com/about.html

Again, I've barely spent like a few hours writing this and haven't tested it on any other machine.. so it'd be great to hear some feedback.

    Regards,
    San
P.S. To save forms just hold the "SHIFT" key when submitting a form

I gave it a go. the installation and import seemed to work fine, though I did get a message that I needed to upgrade to Chrome 3.0 something (Chrome says it is up to date at 2.0.172.39). The program was allowed to run in te background. The tray icon showed up, but after restarting both Chrome and the service, there was no sign of any form filler.
I did an uninstall, but that did not remove the Start Menu folder and shortcuts nor the install directory and the executable.
I'd be ready to try again.

    Hi Jake,
yes, it won't work with less than 3.0 because v2.0.* is not a development release (i.e. no support for extensions). You will need to upgrade your version of Chrome to 3.0. Download it from Google's website here:

    http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=devchannel

Also regarding the uninstall, it may be because the service was running during uninstall and so it couldn't delete the file.. i'll check it nonetheless.

    Regards,
    San

    Hi San,
I gave it a try too on Chrome 3, it works. A toolbar showed up at the bottom of Chrome, while an icon in the tray gives you the option to stop the service or restarts it if it cracks. I would recommend making it so that when it automatically detects a website for which a login is recognized, it would auto-select that login (sort of like roboform does). Congratulations on making this.

    Hi Claudiu,

Thanks for the kind comments Great to have a confirmation that it's working on other machines too. I know it's a very basic pre-alpha version and needs a lot more development. Maybe next weekend

Which is kinda why I am wondering if anyone else in this forum does some coding too and would like to contribute to the development (it's javascript and delphi). I'd be more than happy to release the full source on Google Code / Sourceforge. I will eventually anyway but if someone is interested now I can take some more time out and do it earlier.

    Kind Regards,
    San

    Hi,

just an update on the form filler.

I've released the full source code for the plugin (server + applet) on Google code here (under GPL):

    http://code.google.com/p/chromeformfiller/

The core is written in Borland delphi and the rest is Javascript.

If you're a developer feel free to download the code, make your modifications and share it with the rest of the roboformchrome community

    Cheers!
    San

@15k16k: sorry I've never used Iron. I've release the full source code for the plugin, so if you're a developer you can make the reqd. tweaks, etc.. thanks.

    Hello San,
Does this work with Chrome 4? I went through the installation process but don't see the form filler toolbar at the bottom left corner (even after rebooting).
    Thanks.

I can't it to work either. I'm using version 4.0.202.0. What's strange is it shows initially once the install is done. But once I import the passwords and reboot (either with just a browser restart or whole system reboot) it never shows up again.

Man, I wish I could get this working. I want to use Chrome for my main browser but I'll have to stick to Firefox until something happens to get Roboform working in Chrome.

Okay... Got it working and until Roboform gets some support going on this works great.

Here's the problem... you have to start chrome by either using the Chrome Form Filler shortcut or by editing the target of your chrome shortcut to enable the extension. Once I started using the Chrome Form Filler shortcut the bar is constantly on the bottom.

    Great work San!
