ENSURE ROBOFORM AND YOUR BROWSERS ARE CLOSED FIRST
Additionally if you want robo v6 to work in firefox 4 then install roboform 7. Goto the siber systems folder (usually @ "C:\Program Files (x86)\Siber Systems\AI RoboForm" and make a backup of the "firefox" folder. Re install roboform v6 and copy the backup of "firefox" you did earlier back into the "Siber Systems\AI RoboForm". Your robo toolbar should work now!

Tips for installing the roboform toolbar on chrome. Notes

When trying to install the toolbar for roboform on chrome browser, install the latest version 6 (6.10.2)"fixed" roboform then find this

extension ": roboform-chrome.crx." (latest is 1.0.9.51) I was able to find it web http://computerboom.blogspot.com/2010/04/roboform-addon-

extension-for-google.html.
You will need to install extension "ietabs" which you can find at https://chrome.google.com/webstore?hl=en-GB for roboform to work in the

browser. Once you have installed ietabs, restart the browser. Down the bottom is the robo toolbar. So roboform can work properly go to the top

right of chrome and click the ietabs extension. The browser will go white briefly and then roboform will work.
If you have roboform 2 go then simply plug your drive in and as long as you have the the same fixed version installed it will work.

Downloaded the latest Roboform for Chrome and have these issues:

1) On Igoogle if you click the menu on a feed to either expand or minimize there is a lag of 10-15 seconds before it responds.

2) Likewise in Facebook when you click on links to comment on a port there is the same lag. Disabling the extension resolves the issue but that kinda defeats the purchase of my purchasing it.

It looks like there is good news on this front - Roboform support got back to me, and advised that version 7.2.4 should fix the problem - which it did, and they've now released 7.2.5 to the world which also looks good.

I was advised to download version 7.2.3 which fixed the problem for a few websites, but I still get the crash an awful lot. Its especially annoying when watching a video stream in full screen mode when the crash message pops up and takes you out of full screen mode.

I've given Roboform example sites where it happens, but after their initial replies I've had nothing back from them for several days - hopefully they are looking into it.

Still having same crash issues with extension of 7.2.2.....7.2.3 doesn't look good either. Suggestion to RF Dev: Stretch your dev horizon and advise your users where you are at. Test more. Move to Beta model if you must, but this is annoying. Competition (LastPass) is looking better....although I will concede Google is having a few issues too...but they are the dog, and you are the tail here.

I've downloaded 7.2.2 and am still having the "plug-in has crashed" problems with Chrome. IE8 works with Roboform without an issue. Some websites seem worse than others - especially those that bring up some kind of a welcome advert in front of the main logon screen.

Version "7.1.3" still moves every web page down a quarter inch, even with the setting at "show no toolbar" and worse, it takes several seconds to do this, which most of the time causes Chrome to freeze up and close.

I upgraded to this version per instructions received from Roboform support because I was getting a grey placeholer at the top of every webpage. The latest version fixed this but is causing the problems mentioned.

I am using the latest Chrome version 8.0.552.224

Since a few weeks Chrome was crashing unexpectedly let's say every 15 minutes.
It was not dramatic but ... a problem.
I decided to re-load Chrome 3 days ago. Very good. I was out of this nightmare.
I thought I had solved my Problem (I had spent a lot of time trying to find the reason).

Then I discovered the Roboform extension had to be reloaded too.
And then almost immediatly, crashes again.

Thank you to tell me what to do.

I like Roboform but I paid some money and I supposed it would work without failure.
Do you think a money compensation will be done?

I'm running:
RoboForm2Go Ver 6.9.99
Google Chrome 4.1.249.1064
Chrome Adapter, website states 1.0.9.2, browser states 1.0.9.4
All latest versions.

Ran Roboform2go, opened Chrome and vice-versa.
The Roboform icon appears at the top but says look for the lower toolbar at the bottom. No lower toolbar.
I then added the suggested "-enable-extension-toolstrips" to the Chrome shortcut. Toolbar appears but it only states: "Roboform Holder" and does nothing.

Why is this so difficult?

I just discovered that Roboform appears to work with just about full functionality in a Chrome IE Tab window. You can get IE Tab or IE Tab Classic from the Chrome Extensions page.

This might be the best solution yet until RF comes out with a Chrome extension. Check it out.

Having played around with it for about an hour I uninstalled it. Form filling was ok, liked the syncing with the Roboform app, but couldn't create any new passcards. Passcard creation seemed very backwards even if it did work, but all it did was crash the browser tab I was trying to create the passcard in. Needs a lot of work.

I'm sorry to have to say (in this particular campaign) that I expect to continue using the Google Chrome Browser regardless, because it opens so fast. I'd be lying if I said otherwise. I do and will also use Firefox and may even be forced to use Internet Explorer 8 in special circumstances. I used to use Roboform an awful lot a year ago when I was hooked on entering online contests. I then used IE or Firefox (not sure), and the speed of using Roboform enabled me enter hundreds of contests per day and to win perhaps a thousand dollars worth of prizes over the months. Ultimately I had a bad experience with having to fight to secure a legitimate win. I got peeved over this and got off the contest addiction for good. I tended to be annoyed afterwards when roboform would popup unexpectedly and remind me of the bad experience with that prize they wanted to take from me. I ended up turning it off and later uninstalling it. It only takes me seconds to fill out most forms, so it isn't a huge issue to me now. In the meantime, when I stumbled upon this thread, I was about to download roboform again and to give it another try to see if it still annoys me as it used to, now while using Chrome. As I aaid before, I ended up using Chrome as default because of its speed opening. There was a period of time when Firefox was taking 30 to 35 seconds to open for me and IE was taking 15 or 20. Some personal computer maintenance have helped both of these browsers a lot They're taking about 5 or 6 seconds each tonight, which is much better than it used to be. When I first discovered Chrome, it opened in around 2 seconds on my system, and switching to it was a no brainer. It still pops up almost instantly on my relatively slow P4 system.

So far I only know that roboform provides a beautiful password generator that can be set to very long passwords (I use 20) that are totally random. You also have a choice of different encryption methods, which I change from time to time. The word is SECURE!

I like what I see in the new Chrome browser and, as a google fan, I would love to use it, but it has to support Roboform. Also, ideally, it would work with Mcaffee Site Advisor too!

Agree with vedavis. I have just recently began looking for a password manager/form filler, and it seems that roboform is getting allot of praise. The fact that this website exist is enough argument for me give it a shot. However chrome is my default browser and it is going to remain so, with or without roboform. I hope they get the integration in place with chrome, if they do ill buy it that day. Until that day comes, is there anything out there compatible with chrome that is worth using?

Face the truth, RoboForm developers. Either form an alliance with Google and get this ported, or Google might develop their own. The Google toolbar is already in place. And it will probably be free. Chrome is becoming a favorite of mine and others. As for my alliance, there is no RoboForm in my future without Chrome support. You left that choice out of the poll, I see. However, I would pay for the ability to have Chrome support. So let's get the ball rolling here.

I deem Chrome worthless.

Due to the protocol I have in place for myself, and that would be my requirement of using not one but several different browsers on a daily basis. And due to my absolute need to add bookmarks on an almost daily basis, Chrome is an unacceptable browser. People will ask: 'Why use more than one browser?'

My answer: 'For the same reason you backup your data on a DVD or online: in case your hard drive fails. All browsers, and I don't care which one we're talking about, will fail on you or hit a wall and stop dead in its tracks. And if you're using your browser for work and school, failures are totally unacceptable, especially if you're right in the middle of working on a critical project. Always have a backup browser ready to go for those occasions when your main browser crashes or slows to a crawl!'

IE7 is my main browser. Bookmarks go in there first of all before they go anywhere else. And then they are imported over to Firefox sometimes two or three times a day. In Firefox it's super easy to delete hundreds or thousands of IE7 bookmarks and then import 'em again. Sometimes I do that 2 or 3 times a day. It's super easy, Firefox allows you do it with just a couple of clicks.

Chrome, on the other hand, does not allow you to delte IE7's bookmarks! Chrome keeps the imported bookmarks in a folder called, 'Other bookmarks.' But you can't delete those IE7 bookmarks and worse, over the course of days or weeks, you can't add any additional IE7 bookmarks to them.

So...if your bookmarks are a big part of your life and you use them for work and school and you place a HIGH priority on saving bookmarks, and you use more than one web browser, I say: Chrome is an inferior browser, I would never recommend Chrome to a person like that. Currently I use IE7 and Firefox, but soon I'll be taking a long look at Maxthon. Maxthon is rated high by C/net. Of course, you can't rely on only one review, but it's a start for people who are looking to add a third browser to their stable.

BTW, I'm not one of those Firefox fanboys you find on every street corner, not me. Firefox has their own set of problems that crop up from time to time. Firefox is not a perfect browser. The perfect browser does not exist. That's why whenever I'm online ALWAYS run two different browsers and why I'm looking for a decent third browser.

P.S. Yes, you can delete IE7 bookmarks from Chrome, but you have to delte each bookmark one at a time. So if you have 100 or 1000 bookmarks, Chrome forces you to delete each one individually. Of course, that'll take you a few days if not weeks to accomplish something like that!

I voted with chrome because it IS my primary browser. I have roboform set to open the links in IE. Its a default IE install. I use this primarily to get my bills paid. Thats it. Any other logins, I check using the EDIT in Roboform, then I type the info. (Usually just my common name and one of a few set passwords I use.) I can't think of any forms that aren't bill, or unemployment related.

I don't really think Google gives a *** about RoboForm, that's one problem. However, on the other hand if the Chrome market will increase to the point where the Roboform developers cannot ignore it anymore, they will find a solution. The thing is that with version 2, Chrome introduced a way to use addons in it and I even saw a framework to develop such scripts for Chrome - maybe there's something they could do in this direction to have Roboform compatible with Chrome. Time will tell.

Google announced today on their blog that Google Chrome is out of beta:

Since we first released Google Chrome, the development team has been hard at work improving the stability and overall performance of the browser. In just 100 days, we have reached more than 10 million active users around the world (on all seven continents, no less) and released 14 updates to the product. We're excited to announce that with today's fifteenth release we are taking off the "beta" label!

I must admit I wasn't expecting this, given that (at least to me) Google Chrome is still far away from a full featured browser. Indeed the About box of Chrome now says version 1.0.154, but I don't really see what's new beside more stability since their first release. Rumors say that Google rushed into doing so because OEM (hardware vendors) wanted to include Chrome with their systems but couldn't because of the beta label. This get credible if you think that Gmail, a service started many years ago and that has incorporated dozens of features, is still in beta.

Anyway, I would be happy if they would finally integrate an extensions engine where users could create 3rd party plugins, just like they mention here. Because that would be a step closer for a Roboform toolbar.

At this moment in time I really don't see what the appeal of Chrome is. If it was miles ahead of every other browser in terms of speed then sure there's one thing. But the latest set of results i've seen show that minefield has the faster js engine.

Even if Chrome was slightly faster what else has it got going for it? I could name a list as long as my arm of things I would miss moving from ff to Chrome, and i'm not even taking roboform or speed into account here.

Maybe in a year or two when Chrome matures it might be able to compete a bit but at the moment I just don't see anything there of interest.

Although I voted that I would continue to use Browsers where RoboForm works, there is a limit. If another product like RoboForm comes along that does support Chrome, even if it were not as good as RoboForm, I would be off of RoboForm and onto it in an instant.

Hi Broadsword, I'm afraid we don't know more things either. That's the standard message Siber System put since Google Chrome was released, which doesn't say it will not be an integration, but it doesn't say it will be either.

So we're waiting, either from Google to do something or until Roboform gets on this new route - hopefully they'll do. One thing I want to see is when Chrome will have much more extensions and 3rd party publishers will start analyzing that, maybe that's a possibility for RoboForm to be added as an extension.

Thank you for your message.
We are sorry, but RoboForm cannot integrate with Google Chrome.

Unfortunately, it is not possible due to the browser engine that Google chose, named WebKit.

I just voted "would use chrome" but need to explain my vote a little because it isn't exactly true...

I love RoboForm and Google and I would gladly use RoboFom's browser if it had one...

Or use Chrome if it had two important features that I need daily :
- the google toolbar
- RoboForm

Or put it differently : a "remote" password manager and a "remote" bookmark manager, i.e. one single environment which ever PC I use.

I know Google is big brother and in the very near future it will eat us all... But in the meantime I wouldn't mind storing my bookmarks and the associated passwords at one single place, preferably online, so that I don't have to synchronize various PCs with a password or a bookmark file all the time...

Anyway, the way I have things set up now in Maxthon, when I close it the cache gets cleared so I'm incognito in it too. In Chrome is rather annoying how you cannot force it to always start in incognito mode (or have profiles, something).

As for the RSS reader, I would want to read directly the rss feeds from the publishing website and not use Google reader (or another online rss reader) - right now if you open an RSS feed (try the RSS feed for this topic on this page) it will show junk, it would be nice to recognize them and maybe an auto-discovery option.

For me it asks if I want to use google reader or some other online rss readers, unfortantley no option for bookmarking the feed itself, like FF. I can see the headlines, however (in the rss feed page).

I don't think this is enabled in Firefox 3 (based on this thread and others similar) and what leads me to this is the fact that when something occurs Firefox crashes entirely.

As for Maxthon, which is my main browser due to some features I couldn't work without, in the (rare) occasions something goes wrong with one of the pages, you can't do much but ctrl+alt+delete it. I have that option to enable multi-thread disabled because I think it consumes less resources if it's disabled (this was the case on an early release of maxthon2, not sure if it's the same now).

Chrome's approach is somehow different because if something goes wrong only one tab crashes (aw snap).

"Another advantage of Chrome is the whole each-tab-as-a-process thing, which lets you "kill" a tab if it became unresponsive, much like using an operating system."

I think this is pretty standard now in a lot of browsers, not something new with Chrome. For instance in Maxthon go to setup center->Advanced->Enable Multi-thread tab support. In firefox I think it's been enabled since version 3, there's no setting to turn it off. Not sure about Opera though but it wouldn't surprise me if it also used different threads/processes for each of its tabs.

Thanks for the article. This is an interesting part:

Mozilla might end up taking some of Chrome's ideas, and perhaps even some of its open-source code, to work into Firefox. Tops on Eich's list: Chrome's running each browser tab as a separate process, an approach designed to prevent a single site, and thus tab, from crashing or locking up the whole browser.

I'm curious about the 3.1 release too. Another advantage of Chrome is the whole each-tab-as-a-process thing, which lets you "kill" a tab if it became unresponsive, much like using an operating system.

Here's an article where it's claimed FF 3.1 javascript engine is around 28% faster than Chromes.

http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9114163

Will be interesting to see, based on that article, how FF 3.1 handles pages like Digg compared to Chrome.

Well there's no doubt Firefox and Maxthon can be sluggish sometimes. With regard to sites like Digg that use a lot of javascript this may improve in FF with the next update due soon because it contains a new javascript engine that is supposed to be very fast. Just looking down your list of likes. The Incognito window feature is also coming to FF, I think that may be in the next update as well.

Maybe when Chrome matures a bit more and has some extra functionality (and roboform support) i'll come back and take a look. But right now there's way to much I'd miss such as super drag and drop, mouse gestures and ad blocking which I can't do without.

The ad-blocking issue is an interesting one. Maxthon and FF both have very good ad-blocking capabilities which make surfing a lot more enjoyable. Google's whole business model is based around advertising so blocking ad's would shoot themselves in the foot, maybe they will add selective ad blocking.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Right now the main thing that makes me like it better than FireFox is its speed on handling certain websites (e.g. digg). You can see my opinion on what I like and what I don't in Google Chrome.

I've been using Roboform with Firefox/Maxthon for a while now. I've not had chance to try Chrome yet but you guys seem excited by it. What is it that makes Chrome better than firefox, is it just a performance thing or does it add something extra that the other browsers don't?

I am using Chrome because it is great. Fast, dependable, simple, huge reading space. I am using its internal password manager, but it is pretty insecure. Everytime I go to a new site, I have to call in Roboform because I just do not remember any passwords but one. My digital life would be much much better if Roboform integrated with Chrome. I hope it will integrate!

Hi yegods and welcome to the forums.
"not sure it will do any good... but whatever"

Google/Roboform have marketers on their side, and trust me that searching for feedback is one of their mission too, so any mention of a wanted feature somewhere gets noticed if it is requested by many users. The first thing they ask is if there's market for a certain feature, and where's lots of requests it means there's market.
