Hello there,

Roboform for Opera adapter is on the way. For now there's a proof-of-concept build (that is VERY small functionality).
Anyone wanna alpha-test?

I've been utilizing a paid Robo for a while now, and loving it. Now, I have to admit, I got a little "excited" when I chose my Robo Password, and now it takes me just a bit less to enter it than to fill out the damn form! How do I change it? And thanks, in advance...

Yes, they have an alpha version that works with Chrome. Actually, it seems that Chrome doesn't have yet a stable add-on framework, so this alpha version works with Chromium, which practically it's the same as Chrome.

So what you can do to test the integration between Roboform and Chrome:

There's no need to install this anymore since RoboformforChromium.exe already contains the installer for Chromium 3.0 too (so if you have Chromium 4 installed you need to uninstall it first)

Make sure you have the latest version of Roboform, so if you don't download and install it here: RoboForm 6.9.97

Download and install after that Roboform for Chrome here (it includes the setup for Chromium): RoboformForChromium

Run Chromium and you'll see the Roboform toolbar attached at the end of the browser.

Any bugs should be submitted via support.roboform.com

This is an adapter, just like they use with Firefox, and just like it was with Firefox in time they'll integrate it as a toolbar at the top. Right now this alpha version of Roboform works with Chromium, until Chrome has a stable add-on framework. Details about Roboform for Chrome/Chromium are here. Thank you roboform developers, reading from that page it seems that there was a lot of work to do and it seems that they collaborated directly with Google/Apple for this:

Google Chrome does not yet have a stable and public add-on framework in the same way that Firefox does. Their add-on framework in in development. There are very few add-ons publicly available from any software provider, including us. However, our developers have been in constant communication with Google for the past few months and have done most of the leg work. When Google finalizes their public extensions framework, you can rest assured that RoboForm will work for Google Chrome within a very short time.

And here's how it looks like:
BUT it doesn't fill anything in! Is this the way it's supposed to work? (By the way, just got RF working just fine in Chrome.)

RoboForm2Go Ver 6.9.99
Google Chrome 4.1.249.1064
Chrome Adapter, website states 1.0.9.2, browser states 1.0.9.4
All latest versions.

Ran Roboform2go, opened Chrome and vice-versa.
The Roboform icon appears at the top but says look for the lower toolbar at the bottom. No lower toolbar.
I then added the suggested "-enable-extension-toolstrips" to the Chrome shortcut. Toolbar appears but it only states: "Roboform Holder" and does nothing.

Why is this so difficult?

Great news. After a discussion with Simon from Roboform, he agreed to give us a 20% off discount code for Roboform, valid until November 30. In order to purchase Roboform with the discount applied, you have to simply visit the following link: Roboform discount. If you look at the title you can see "Roboform Chrome Special Discount", that's us :).

Anyway, another option would be to use directly the Roboform coupon code CHRM1, which will automatically reduce your order with 20%. So if you have been waiting for a special occasion to buy Roboform with a discount, now's the moment. I must admit that I'm quite happy because they've visited this forum and decided to give us a special Roboform discount.

As a note, if you intend to order more items, I've seen that when visiting roboform.com directly and going to the purchase page, the Discount Code field at the bottom doesn't show. If you go to the Additional Licenses tab and then go back to Single, you'll see the Discount Code field and you can enter the coupon code in there.

I just discovered that Roboform appears to work with just about full functionality in a Chrome IE Tab window. You can get IE Tab or IE Tab Classic from the Chrome Extensions page.

This might be the best solution yet until RF comes out with a Chrome extension. Check it out.

Does anyone else get irritated when talking to roboform support? I've spoken to them a number of times over the years and start getting very frustrated the more I talk to them.

My biggest complain is that they don't seem to read the email I send and this is not an isolated issue.

The latest message I sent them was regarding a problem moving a tab from one firefox window to another. I spent a while writing down exactly what was happening and the process I went through to get to the problem. The answer I got back was a fix for making the roboform topbar appear! The second reply I got told me to install the latest version of roboform but I had already told them in the previous message I was already running the latest version.

The final message was this.

"That should be the case if it is doing when you drag a new tab. IF i drag a tab it opens the toolbar the saem way if i open it in a new window or if i open a page from a tab. If you normally have to select the show toolbar button then you will have to do the same when dragging a tab."

Again what? He says if I normally have to select the show toolbar button then you will have to do the same. But I specifically said I don't normally have to the click the show toolbar button in a previous email.

I just seem to spending my time repeating myself. Does anyone know where the support guys are based? Maybe they are foreign and struggle a little with the english language in which case I can understand a little but should they be employing people who don't understand their customers?

Anyone else have a similar experience or I have just been unlucky?

I've used RoboForm on my desktop PC for a couple of years. Several months ago, I bought RoboForm 2Go so I use the passwords I store on my desktop PC on my laptop. I am unable to get this %*&H$** program to work, so I contacted RoboForm Tech Support.

The one time I was able to receive a callback from a person, he was unable to solve my technical issue and kicked it upstairs to a higher level tech.

In spite of my repeated requests, I couldn't speak to a higher level tech to resolve my problem. I still can't get my RoboForm 2Go to work properly.

I'm now looking for a tech guy outside of RoboForm that can help me. Do you know of a RoboForm expert or consultant around that charges for tech support?

Came across this by chance, if they have put this on Twitter then they should have made it more obvious as I haven't seen it. As I can't find any posts here I guess others haven't found it either.

Not had chance to try it fully yet, seems to integrate through Roboform online rather than the app directly, but its a start.

Itunes has a an apple id & pswd but is is a program, not a web page. When I try to create a passcard for itunes by holding the ALT key & clicking submit, the most recent web page appears with the RF "create passcard" box containing the web page name, not itunes. It seems that roboform does not recognize anything that is not a web page. Is there a way for me to do this? I'm very frustrated by repeated attempts.

Hello all,

RoboForm Portable 6.9.98 can NOT save passcard in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit - access denied.

I took advice from RF official FAQ and here's the result.

1. Options->User Data->Set Correct File Permissions button is greyed out. i.e. I can't click on it.

2. go into the installation directory and uncheck Read-Only flag for every file. My Win 7 just won't do it. i.e. the Read-Only flag can't be unchecked.

Appreciate some help!

Happy New Year everyone!

Installed Robo Chromium. Had it working fine then decided to remove the toolbar because it was in the way of something temporarily. It says to get it back all I have to do is right click on the screen somewhere to bring it back but when I tried that nothing shows up and I've looked everywhere for it. Even rebooted the browser.

Anyone tried the RoboForm Bookmarklet in connection with Chrome? I haven't yet because I don't use roboform online, but it does seem like it would work just fine with google chrome, according to their description:

The RoboForm Bookmarklet allows RoboForm Online users to login to websites automatically using their existing RoboForm logins, even where RoboForm is not installed. The RoboForm Bookmarklet also works on browsers where RoboForm is not currently supported such as Chrome, Opera, and Safari giving users much greater flexibility.

Of course this works only with roboform logins (no identities if i read correctly) and it doesn't do automatic fill and submit. And, it requires you to have your logins stored online...

Hey everyone!

Have you ever tried Sticky Password manager? I'm using it for years and it is just great! Integrated right into browser or any application like Skype, ICQ, QiP, so you have all password and accounts on one place in highly secured database. Filling of multiple login sites is automatic - far more better then in Roboform. Actualy I switched from Roboform, because of its poor toolbar solution and poor user interface. Try Sticky Password, you'll be impressed I think.

Hi there
looking for some advice.

I use roboform at home on my desktop for some sensitive sites eg bank accounts etc. No one else has access to my pc without my permission. Is it necessary to set a master password - ie can someone remotely (rather than from my desktop) access the passcards realistically? It would just save time not to have to log in each time but if this is a security issue even for a single user at home then I will keep a password.

many thanks

Just recently purchased RoboForm Pro. I really like it, but one thing seriously needs improving.

Page 7 of the manual describes Multi-Step Logins. It talks about Bank of America. I have National City bank. I'll bet it applies to quite a few others, too. My bank has an opening screen which requires entry of the user name. You hit enter, then a following screen opens which requires entry of the password.

The process as described is not very clear, and cumbersome to set up. It is also tedious to follow and easy to make a mistake when logging in.

The Roboform software needs to be improved so that the process is automatic.

As a long time user of RoboForm, I find it hard to even consider a browser for everytime use if it doesn't allow integration for RoboForm. Google's new browser, Chrome, is fast and tempting, but doesn't (yet?) support RoboForm (as detailed here http://www.password-managers.com/2008/09/roboform-for-google-chrome.html).

If the same thing that happens with Opera and Safari (RoboForm doesn't integrate with them) will happen with Google Chrome too, and RoboForm won't work at all with it, which would you rather give up on using, RoboForm or Google Chrome?

Hi,

Like all of you I've been searching for a form filler for google chrome for a long time now and so this weekend I decided to spend a few hours to write my own plugin.

So, here it is.. an extremely basic alpha version the Chrome Form Filler for those who can't wait any longer. It's just hot out of the oven (because I've only got to spend a few hours writing this) - but it gets the job done for me.. hopefully would do for you!

To download it, you can go here:
http://www.chromeformfiller.com/setup.exe

Or you can see a screenshot here:
http://www.chromeformfiller.com/screenshot.gif

I've also written a small brutish program to import my roboform contacts into this chrome plugin.

This is not my full time job so I'm not sure if this will ever be as complete as Roboform.. that's why I'm willing to release the source code of this on sourceforge if some other developer has more time or interest (please contact me).

Anyway, if you like it then please don't mind buying me below :)
http://www.chromeformfiller.com/about.html

Again, I've barely spent like a few hours writing this and haven't tested it on any other machine.. so it'd be great to hear some feedback.

Regards,
San
P.S. To save forms just hold the "SHIFT" key when submitting a form

If you are following google you understand that Chrome is not just a browser, and the near future should be pretty active in the fight for development.

I am NOT affiliated with Robo Form or Google in any way.

There seems to be those here who think a password gen/keeper is more important than the Browser. This to me seems like backward thinking. If the Robo developers don't get their
coding act together soon another will take it's first place, and yes all because of Chrome.

I installed MOZY FREE Backup software on my computer by following their instructions.
After installation, my computer kept freezing and then I got the Windows Blue Screen of Death!
Basically, MOZY FREE Backup CRASHED my computer. I could not even do a system restore. I had to restore my computer from scratch. I am still in the process of putting back all my programs and files, this is very time consuming.
Furthermore, after I backed up my files, I could not retrieve them using another computer. It kept telling me that I had to register and install MOZY Backup, it just would not retrieve my previous registration.
I am still not able to retrieve my files. Luckily, I kept local backups on some DVD's. MOZY may be free, but there is always a catch. Please be aware Mozy free backup could crash your computer?
Maybe that's how they get you; then they tell you have to purchase one of their plans???
FYI: I have 2GB of RAM and a 2.0 GHz AMD processor and it still CRASHED it!

RoboForm 6.9.96 was released, it has only some minor fixes (mainly compatibility with Windows 7 and some Vista fixes). As I can see there are only 4 minor releases left until the main number should change, I wonder if that means RoboForm 7.0 or RoboForm 6.10.something (hope it's the first thing).

What's new/changed in RoboForm 6.9.96:

New: Add integration of RoboForm2Go with GoodSync2Go: now RF2Go calls GS2Go when it need to sync.

New: Improve form filling in the new Adapter (Frozen APIs).

Update: Fix RoboForm2Go upgrading RoboForm Fixed on Vista.

Update: Add Program Compatibility section to manifest for Windows 7.

Fix: Improve GoodSync integration for RoboForm Online.

Fix: Do not ask old Master Password twice in Change Master Password dialog.

You can get the new versions here: RoboForm 6.9.96 | RoboForm2Go 6.9.96

After 7 years of using Roboform I just stumled upon lastpass.com
It's everything what I ever wanted. It's web based so not synchronisation neccessary, all the features of Roboform, nice integration in Firefox and IE and bookmarklets support for Chrome (for now).
See video below how it works.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxR2FH1O83A&fmt=18
Just helping out souls like mine which wanted free, web based, fully functional password manager.

I'm using Maxthon2 as my main browser, and the integration with RoboForm is flawless. I've seen that they've released now Maxthon 3 (an alpha version), and it's definitely looking much better than version 2, however since it's in alpha no features are enabled and thus no love for RoboForm. If they'd only add a toolbar support, I'd be all over it since I'm not that happy with version 2.

Anyway, if you're a Maxthon user it's worth downloading the version 3 alpha just to give it a short test drive (it installs separatelly).

RoboForm 6.9.95 was released recently (was in holiday, that's why I missed the announcement) the main feature being full support for FireFox 3.5

What's new/changed in RoboForm 6.9.95:

New: Full support for Firefox 3.5, they've added an adapter for it in the RoboForm installer.

New: A new Sync button is in the RoboForm toolbar, controls synchronization with the RoboForm Online server.

Update: Support for Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 is available only by downloading the XPI (it's not available from the installer anymore, to reduce the size of it).

Update: Improve throwing JavaScript events to better fill and submit forms (beats me what it means, probably better fill/submit support in javascript enabled forms).

Fix: Fixed auto-submit issues for several sites (comcast.com and virginiagasprices.com others).

You can get the new versions here: RoboForm 6.9.95 | RoboForm2Go 6.9.95

I’ve just upgraded my copy of Roboform to 6.9.93 and I noticed the following in the release notes.

“RoboForm Online Beta has been released, an easy automated way to synchronize and backup your Passcards, Identities and Safenotes via RoboForm Online server. Free for RoboForm Pro users.”

I thought this sounded quite a good way to backup all my RF data and sync between my work and home computers so I went to the RF online backup page to read more. roboformonlinebackup.com

Firstly it mentions that it’s free to use for the first 10 items and then you need to pay $9.99. But from reading the release notes above it says “free for Roboform pro users” so I assume the $9.99 is only for people that are using the free version of Roboform, can anyone confirm this?

Now for the real reason for my post. On the roboformonlinebackup site it says “*NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT STORE SENSITIVE DATA.”. Huh surely by it’s very nature if your using Roboform it’s going to contain sensitive date, that’s the whole point. I have my identities which contain a lot of personal information, logins with passwords and safenotes which contain other sensitive information. I would have to think twice about storing all my passcards etc on a remote server run by someone else anyway, even if they are password protected, but by adding this disclaimer it makes me wonder what use this service has, anyone got any comments?

Claudiu on "Synchronize RoboForm data automatically"

RoboForm has a "Sync RoboForm Data" option, but that requires that you buy and install their other product, GoodSync. I needed to have my RoboForm data automatically synchronized between my desktop computer and the laptop, so I looked around to see if there is an alternative. And boy there are many free synchronization programs. However I sticked with Microsoft's Synctoy 2.0. Synctoy lets you not only synchronize the roboform data, but also to back it up (if you don't want to use Roboform's internal backup engine).

A minus for Synctoy is the fact that you cannot schedule automatically the synchronization process to take place, but for that you can define a scheduler using Windows' Task scheduler.

So here's what I did to synchronize Roboform data between two folders:

I opened Synctoy and clicked on Create New Folder Pair button to start defining the sync process for roboform.

A wizard pops-up with an option to choose the Left Folder (source) and Right Folder (destination). In the Left Folder I added the My RoboForm Data folder from the local computer, in the Right Folder I added the My RoboForm Data folder from the laptop connected through the same network (you can map the laptop drive)

In the second step you have to select what you want to do, meaning if you want to Synchronize, Echo or Contribute. Basically synchronization makes sure the exact same files are in both folders, the Echo just copies over what's new/modified to the destination (if you delete something from the source it will be deleted on the destination), and Contribute backs up from the source but without deleting anything in the destination

Next you assign a name for this synchronization task and you'll see it defined. You can click on the Preview button to see the actions that are going to happen when this runs, and if you click on Run, Synctoy will start synchronizing the roboform data.

You have the synchronization process defined now, but if you want to schedule it automatically you have to add a Scheduler Task for it, just like described below (they have the same tutorial in the help file of Synctoy, and it applies to Windows XP):

From the Start menu, select All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Scheduled Tasks.

Select Add scheduled task to start the Scheduled Task Wizard. You will see a list of possible programs to run. Select Browse and locate the SyncToyCmd.exe from the installation folder.

The scheduler wizard will next prompt you to enter how often you want to run the scheduled task.

The next page asks when to start the task. Select a start time.

The next page asks for the user name and password to run the program under. Enter your Windows login username and password. Note that if you don't have a password for your login user, you'll need to define one since you cannot add schedules with a blank password.

The final page contains an option to open advanced properties for the schedule.

Modify the Run textbox to include the –R command line option. –R all by itself will run all synchronization processes that you defined in Synctoy, so if you just want to run a single synchronization task automatically you'll have to add –R “roboform” to the end of the command line where roboform in this case is the name you gave to the synchronization process. As an example, here's how it should look the Run field: "C:\Program Files\SyncToy 2.0\SyncToyCmd.exe" -R "roboform" (note that the quotes end after the path but also re-appear for the pair name).

This is all you have to do. Now at the scheduled date/time, the synchronization of your Roboform data between the two computers will run automatically. It works for me, hopefully it will work for you too

Some extra speed with Chrome, and I like the stripped down interface. The lack of addons is probably what helps it to be faster than firefox, where badly integrated addons cause mayhem. However, without roboform I will not be using Google Chrome. Many others feel the same way. Doesn't work with Billeo either.

They've released 6.9.92 yesterday, a bit before Christmas, but no chrome support. It seems they've added an anti-phishing filter which is a good feature, other things seem just fixes. Here are the changes they mention:

Add anti-phishing protection: warn user when filling from passcard whose URL does not match web page.

Fix not showing all matching passcards in SaveForms dialog for multi-frame multi-domain sites.

If user has unprotected passcards check them first in AutoSave, to reduce requests of Master Password.

Use Yandex search engine as default for users with Russian language.

Fix AutoSave not working in some frames with style position:absolute.

Fix Editors doing unnecessary second refresh after the external file change.

Added Firefox 3.1 beta support

You can download it here: Roboform 6.9.92
