Just as mentioned above if this happens again in chrome simply visit http://www.youtube.com/html5 and join the HTML5 trial as the first post explains, restart the computer if needed and it won't crash anymore.

On Monday the official google blog posted an entry revealing their newest project, Google Chrome OS. Beside the fact that they give a clue on how many users Chrome has until now (about 30 millions) they also give a bit of details on what'll be:

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010

From what I understand at its core it'll be a Linux distribution, but adapted for web use with a newly windowing system. I'm sure Windows is not that worried, as the new Google Chrome OS will eat up from Ubuntu's market share and why not OS X. Anyway it'll be interesting, mainly because it will be free, fast (they say it's lightweight) and probably more secure. And the question is, will Roboform run on it? Well, they don't give much specifications about Chrome OS but it seems that web applications will run flawlessly (a bonus for Lastpass here) and the others ... me don't know. We'll see how the story evolves, certain is the fact that Chrome will increase its market share and most likely that's why they haven't added anything spectacular to Chrome for a while now.

@jquigley2 Well Roboform 6 was released in 2004, so if you purchased it after that date you can upgrade for free to the latest version, Roboform 6.9.95, which is compatible with Firefox 3.5.

don't see any advantage to chrome at this point

Well just wait a bit, Google officially announced their newest project, Google Chrome Operating System, which puts Chrome in a new light. Maybe that's why they've been so quiet about Chrome lately.

I just updated to FF 3.5 and my Roboform stopped working, can't get FF 3.5 to download the update, and since I purchased it years ago I want to make sure i get the right download. I have about 135 - 140 pw's in my Roboform. I don't see any advantage to chrome at this point, however it looks as though FF 3.5is going to give me fits too.

reck, I don't think anyone uses just one browser and that won't change for a long time now. I use Maxthon2 by default (got so used to using it), Firefox for any web development issues
I agree that in these months I would've expected Google to release a lot of new features in Chrome, but that didn't happen (other priorities?). I still have hope for it and thanks for the tip on FF3.5, I'll update my installation too and see how it works.

I used Maxthon 2 years ago but it's limited to 1 instance, pretty unstable, does not support a lot of IE plugins. I found that IE7/8 with www.ie7pro.com add-on will do the same things for me what Maxthon did without any of Maxthon limitations. You might try out IE7/8 with ie7pro plugin so see if it fits better then Maxthon.

I use Maxthon2 by default (got so used to using it), Firefox for any web development issues (I don't think there's an equivalent for Firebug for IE/Maxthon, the IE developer toolbar sucks), and Chrome for ... well for casual browsing.

I've started using it because of its speed (when it was launched it was faster than firefox), and I guess that now I continue with it out of habit.

I've used firefox for many years now and recently tried chrome for a while. Yes it's a fast browser but apart from the speed I could see no benefit to using it over firefox. In fact I lost more than I gained by changing to Chrome.

Whenever I ask people why they are using Chrome over ff I just get the same answer, "it's fast". If I ask what else they start to struggle, maybe tossing out the private mode in desperation. Just recently i've installed firefox 3.5RC2 and i've been really impressed by the speed increase. I would say now it's pretty close to chromes speed and that's with a dozen or so plugins installed. Chrome probably still has the edge in the speed department but only by much smaller margin.

So in light of this is there any benefit to using Chrome over ff? When I think of all the power I would lose by moving over to chrome in terms of lost plugin support for a millisecond of speed increase I don't see any advantage but I do see many disadvantages.

I'll just finish by posted a link to an article comparing memory consumption between browsers. In summery firefox 3.5 has the best memory usage of all the browsers tested and, shock horror, google chrome is the worst. During peak browser usage FF3.5 used 73% less memory than chrome with chrome using 1.18 gigabytes compared to FF 327.65 megabytes of memory!

Suddenly that millisecond of extra speed doesn't seem very important.

http://dotnetperls.com/chrome-memory

Anyway enough about chrome. I have noticed one little annoyance with roboform and FF3.5RC2. If I open two different firefox windows and drag a tab between them the full roboform top bar doesn't open up, I just get a roboform toolbar button and a close button. I have to click the roboform button to make the full bar appear with safenotes, logins etc. I've emailed roboform support about this but it's like banging my head against the wall, it's like they just don't read the email.

I deem Chrome worthless.

Due to the protocol I have in place for myself, and that would be my requirement of using not one but several different browsers on a daily basis. And due to my absolute need to add bookmarks on an almost daily basis, Chrome is an unacceptable browser. People will ask: 'Why use more than one browser?'

My answer: 'For the same reason you backup your data on a DVD or online: in case your hard drive fails. All browsers, and I don't care which one we're talking about, will fail on you or hit a wall and stop dead in its tracks. And if you're using your browser for work and school, failures are totally unacceptable, especially if you're right in the middle of working on a critical project. Always have a backup browser ready to go for those occasions when your main browser crashes or slows to a crawl!'

IE7 is my main browser. Bookmarks go in there first of all before they go anywhere else. And then they are imported over to Firefox sometimes two or three times a day. In Firefox it's super easy to delete hundreds or thousands of IE7 bookmarks and then import 'em again. Sometimes I do that 2 or 3 times a day. It's super easy, Firefox allows you do it with just a couple of clicks.

Chrome, on the other hand, does not allow you to delte IE7's bookmarks! Chrome keeps the imported bookmarks in a folder called, 'Other bookmarks.' But you can't delete those IE7 bookmarks and worse, over the course of days or weeks, you can't add any additional IE7 bookmarks to them.

So...if your bookmarks are a big part of your life and you use them for work and school and you place a HIGH priority on saving bookmarks, and you use more than one web browser, I say: Chrome is an inferior browser, I would never recommend Chrome to a person like that. Currently I use IE7 and Firefox, but soon I'll be taking a long look at Maxthon. Maxthon is rated high by C/net. Of course, you can't rely on only one review, but it's a start for people who are looking to add a third browser to their stable.

BTW, I'm not one of those Firefox fanboys you find on every street corner, not me. Firefox has their own set of problems that crop up from time to time. Firefox is not a perfect browser. The perfect browser does not exist. That's why whenever I'm online ALWAYS run two different browsers and why I'm looking for a decent third browser.

P.S. Yes, you can delete IE7 bookmarks from Chrome, but you have to delte each bookmark one at a time. So if you have 100 or 1000 bookmarks, Chrome forces you to delete each one individually. Of course, that'll take you a few days if not weeks to accomplish something like that!

Even if version 2 (true it's still a beta) supports userscripts, I don't think there are any valuable Chrome addons released yet. If anyone knows some addons that might be useful please post here and I'll test them too. In the meantime, I've found:

Portable Chrome. This addon does what it says, meaning it lets you use Google Chrome on a usb drive as a portable application. If you think about it is not really an addon, as this guy used Auto-It to create this portable version based on the sources available for Chromium.

Greasemetal. This is a userscript runtime for Google Chrome. Actually once installed, this will launch Google Chrome and also create a userjs folder in your My Documents ... folder. In that folder you would load userscripts downloaded from http://userscripts.org/ and by launching Google Chrome through Greasemetal any userscripts loaded will act as Chrome addons. However, I've tested this with Chrome version 2 and it doesn't work, I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting indeed, will download it now. What gets me excited about this new release is the "Experimental user script support (similar to Greasemonkey)" Hear that roboform, they'll allow user scripts in version 2 so maybe there's a possibility of porting robo. Beside this change there are others too ( http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel/release-notes/releasenotes201561 ), a goodie being the auto-scroll feature and using profiles.

I'll do a test drive now, it can be downloaded via the developer channel - http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel

Google announced today on their blog that Google Chrome is out of beta:

Since we first released Google Chrome, the development team has been hard at work improving the stability and overall performance of the browser. In just 100 days, we have reached more than 10 million active users around the world (on all seven continents, no less) and released 14 updates to the product. We're excited to announce that with today's fifteenth release we are taking off the "beta" label!

I must admit I wasn't expecting this, given that (at least to me) Google Chrome is still far away from a full featured browser. Indeed the About box of Chrome now says version 1.0.154, but I don't really see what's new beside more stability since their first release. Rumors say that Google rushed into doing so because OEM (hardware vendors) wanted to include Chrome with their systems but couldn't because of the beta label. This get credible if you think that Gmail, a service started many years ago and that has incorporated dozens of features, is still in beta.

Anyway, I would be happy if they would finally integrate an extensions engine where users could create 3rd party plugins, just like they mention here. Because that would be a step closer for a Roboform toolbar.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Actually I was encouraged to use it instead of the more established ones because I've seen it's much easier to modify its design then others. Plus, the fact that the wordpress forums are using it gave me more trust.

Anyway, if it won't behave good in the future with more traffic, I'll switch to a different one.

If this forum grows bigger I would suggest migrating to a more "dedicated" forum. Maybe phpBB3 or vBulletin. I don't know how big forum bbPress handles ( sounds like it's programmed for a smaller user amount, not bigger ) Of course it's up to you if you want it and of course if the forum grew bigger too.

Hi,
I see there's a new version (149.30) posted, which seems to address some bug fixes with plugins such as:

[r1692] Fix crashes with some plugins --3dvia was the most widely reported-- when they return an error for NPN_GetValue. Fixes bug 493.
[r1859] Fix problems with Flash not playing video if too many connections are opened. For example, using the slider to advance video on YouTube could cause video to stop playing.

Maybe you have this new version installed and they fixed it. I'm installing this version and I'll see how Flash plays now.

Hi and welcome to the forums. That pipe animation is actually a screensaver in Windows 95, so I'm not sure if Google tried to make a joke on Windows or simply they mean the message they transmit, not to clog the internet tubes.

The Google Chrome team launched the Dev Channel, which gives you, if you're interested, access to the latest builds of Google Chrome. However, this means also that you get some of the most unstable "night builds" and crashes might happen, but you also get to see the new features and corrections that they did.

In order to get access to these Dev builds, you need to download a tool called Google Chrome Channel Chooser and select the Dev option. This tool is available here: http://chromium.googlecode.com/files/chromechannel-1.0.exe

Once this tool is installed, follow these steps to get the latest development build for Google Chrome:

Select the Dev option.

Click Update to save your choice.

Click Close.

In Google Chrome, choose the About Google Chrome option.

Once it detects a new update, click Update Now to install the current development release.

Restart Google Chrome.

If it crashes too much, switch back. I for one enjoy seeing what they did lately. The last build it just installed is 0.2.152.1 and one of the new changes I'm sure going to enjoy is "Fix YouTube (and other Flash videos) halting if the time-advance slider is used."

According to Net Applications Google Chrome's market share is around 1% (they offer hourly usage statistics since last week). It's interesting to see what happens next, ideal for them would be the trend to be ascending.

If this is true (valid results would be considered at least after a month of statistics), then it means Google Chrome managed to obtain a market share higher than Opera's, in less than 1 week. Impressive.

Claudiu on "The Google Chrome sandbox"

The Chromium blog team explained a little bit how the sandbox in Google Chrome protects you when browsing. As a note, Google Chrome is the web browser that Google released, while Chromium the open source project from which Google Chrome is compiled.

As for the explanation of the sandbox:

Chromium helps protect your computer from malware by running some parts of the browser in a sandbox. The sandbox tries to limit what an attacker can do after exploiting a bug. In particular, the sandbox aims to prevent malicious web sites from automatically installing software on your computer and from reading confidential files on your hard drive.

[...] The sandbox doesn't prevent every kind of attack (for example, it doesn't stop phishing or cross-site scripting), but it should make it harder for attackers to get to your files.

The full post can be read here. This kind of "each tab as a process in a sandbox" implementation resembles less with a browser, and more to an operating system - what many other people think that Google is going to transform Chrome into.

Open a new window in Incognito mode, go to your Gmail account and click on Compose. Copy a word from somewhere and paste it in the body of the email your composing, and press Ctrl+Z after that - voila, Google Chrome crashes each time returning the Aw, Snap error. Strange how this happens only in Incognito mode only if you copy/paste text and after that press undo - it doesn't happen in normal mode.

P.S. Ok, it's actually 5 steps, opening gmail, switch to incognito, hitting compose, copy/paste text, press Ctrl+Z.

By visiting their download page for Google Chrome, you will actually download a small file (couple of kb) that once started it will download the full setup from Google which is about 7.4MB.

If you want to download the file directly, you can use this direct link to download Google Chrome 149.29 (latest version):
http://cache.pack.google.com/chrome/install/149.29/chrome_installer.exe

One thing I observed though is that if you modify the 149.29 part to a previous build, you can download previous versions too (also it doesn't work for future ones ). So if you would want to download Google Chrome 149.27 (previous build), this would be the correct link for the setup:
http://cache.pack.google.com/chrome/install/149.27/chrome_installer.exe

I'm not sure if they'll keep this for future builds, but it works for now. Also, seems this is served from pack.google.com, but Google Chrome is not part yet of the Google Pack - this is a sign they'll soon add it to that package. One small thing I've seen though is that the setup downloaded show a black icon instead of a setup icon:

:) thanks for the response, I guess it's something they'll fix in a future version.
UPDATE 27-01-2012: This is still happening, when trying to view Youtube videos the latest version of Chrome crashes (actually the adobe plugin crashes) and videos don't play anymore. They are working on this bug to get it fixed for sure, but until then this is what you can do to resolve crashes, simply visit the html5 version of YouTube at http://youtube.com/html5 - in there at the bottom of the page you'll see a link called "Join the HTML5 Trial", click it and you'll get a message that you're in the html5 trial. Restart the browser after that and try viewing a video, if it still doesn't work restart your computer. If you have another solution for preventing Youtube crashes on Chrome please leave a reply below. You can also watch this video to see how to fix the Youtube crash on Google Chrome:

The YouTube crashing of Chrome still happens on 28-January-2012, and given that the error first started 3 years ago it will take a while to fix. This post receives about 2000 visitors daily, so a lot of people are experiencing this problem. Is this a way for Google to promote the HTML5 player on YouTube, by crashing the flash player :)? Doubt it but makes you laugh doesn't it.

P.S. Are you still using Chrome's autofill option? You won't know what you're missing until you'll install Roboform to manage your passwords in Chrome.

UPDATE 29-01-2012: The issue is still happening but an official Google employee posted this message on the chrome support forum "Everyone else - We've been able to reproduce this now, and are actively working on a fix. It's not specific to updating Flash or not. Please sit tight while we work on the fix...". So we're probably going to see an update here soon in Google Chrome that fixes this crash. In the meantime, if the HTML5 thingy still didn't work for you here's another tip, thanks to a commenter on Reddit: "For me the issue was multiple flash plugins, if you go to "chrome://plugins" there should be an entry for Flash. If you have the same issue I had, you should see it say "Flash (2 files)". You can then proceed by clicking the details button in the top right and disabling the oldest listed flash plugin. I went from constant crashes to zero since I fixed it a few days ago. I hope this helps. If you have 2 of the same version, disable the one in the C:WindowsSysWOW64 path."

It's the second time I get an error while playing YouTube videos from Google Chrome. I reinstalled the flash plugin thinking it's because of it but still happens (in Chrome only, FireFox/Maxthon work ok). The good thing about this though is that it let me know that "The follwing plugin is unresponsive: Shockwave Flash" and didn't do anything about that page until I chose to close it, after that displaying instead of the video itself the sad face:

Who knows, maybe it's because I was watching an "End of Day" video :). Anyone else having this problem, or a workaround for it? Hope it's one of the things they fix in the next update, as YouTube is one of their own products and it should run smooth (true that Flash is not their product).

Hi lmilesw,
Thanks for the suggestion on the already closed tabs, I didn't know about Ctrl+Shift+T, however it would be nice if they would offer that in the Incognito mode (they could offer an option to keep in the history up to "x" tabs and when you exit the session they would clean that up from the history).

Regarding the spell checker, I must have written everything correctly as I didn't see any words underlined :). However I see that you get suggestions but cannot add words to the dictionary.

Chrome does have spell checking and you can use Ctrl+Shift+T to open up to ten closed tabs. I am also using a Google RSS subscribe bookmarklet for feeds. So far the biggest issue is no RoboForm support so I am checking into alternatives.

Google Chrome silently updated itself to version 0.2.149.29 (apparently since September 5), but this version doesn't contain any new features, it just fixes some critical security flaws such as:

a buffer overflow vulnerability in handling long filenames that display in the Save As... dialog. Issue: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1414

a buffer overflow vulnerability in handling link targets displayed in the status area when the user hovers over a link. Issue: reported internally to Google

an out-of-bounds memory read when parsing URLs ending with :%. This is a low risk that can be used to crash the entire browser, possibly causing loss of data in the current session. Issue: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=122

changing the default Downloads directory if it is set to Desktop, and ensure that Desktop cannot be the default (to avoid "malicious cluttering of the desktop with unwanted downloads").

Very good of them to have fixed these issues, but I still would have appreciated a pop-up or something letting me know that the program itself was updated - even if it's for our own protection, I don't like having things automatically accessing the internet and downloading/installing files. So as mentioned above, you don't have to worry about downloading anything since Google Chrome automatically updated itself.

Yep. I use drag-and-drop all the time with maxthon, and from time to time when I'm really really lazy, that's the most useful thing for one-click browsing (I mean really lazy like not even using the right-click button).

Greasemonkey yes. Since Chrome is open source I think this is quite possible, we just have to give them a little more time. They will add plugins, addons, extensions or widgets (however they'll call them) to Chrome sooner or later (hopefully sooner).

If there are quite some things I like about Google Chrome, unfortunatelly there are others I like ... NOT.

So, here's my wishlist for Google Chrome, if any of you have other suggestions add them here, you never know who's looking:

RoboForm integration. This is the major drawback in using Google Chrome as my main browser, and I'm sure others feel the same. I don't know when this integration will be possible (and if), but I do hope it's not going to become another Opera situation (RoboForm still doesn't integrate with Opera, after that many years) - of course things are different here since Chrome will become far more popular than Opera.

Super drag-and-drop. This option comes as default in Maxthon, and as a separate plugin in FireFox. You simply select a piece of text, drag and drop it, and another tab with search results for it opens. You can do the same with links or images (they open in separate tabs). I got so used to it, and I miss this option in Chrome.

Mouse gestures. Not much to say here, but they should add this feature either by default or as a Chrome plugin. It's simpler to scroll pages, browse through opened tabs, or close them by using mouse gestures (available in all main browsers).

Add words to the dictionary. Didn't notice that until now but Chrome underlines the words that are spelled wrong and offers suggestions, however they could improve it a little by allowing you to add words to the used dictionary.

Firebug. If you've ever worked on designing a website you know what I'm talking about. Firebug is an excellent tool for designers/web developers, and right now I couldn't find a replacement even in other established browsers (for IE there is the IE Developer toolbar but pales compared to Firebug). Chrome currently offers some debugging options for web developers, but again it doesn't match the easiness of Firebug (changing in real-time the css properties is one of its best features).

Integrated feed reader. I'm sure at a certain point they'll integrate all the Google services easily into Chrome, but for now it lacks a feed reader.

Undo button. If I closed a tab by mistake I would like to have an option to get it back without writing the address again. Something as simple as a Ctrl+Z option to undo the last tab-close. Update: It seems that this is already possible by pressing Ctrl+Shift+TAB, but not if you're in the Incognito Mode.

Ad hunter? Well, it's unlikely they will add an integrated ad blocker, or maybe they'll add one that doesn't block Adwords.

Browsing speed for flash-based sites. Websites using Javascripts seem to load very fast in Chrome, but Flash ones clogh it just like Flash does with other browsers. So, one thing they could do is give us the option to disable flash on inactive tabs.

Double-click to close/open tabs. In Chrome you can close a tab now by pressing the scolling-wheel of the mouse (if it has one and configured as 3rd button), but I would really like to simply double-click a tab to close it, and even better to double-click somewhere in the top bar to open a new tab next to the current one.

Try entering in the address bar of Google Chrome the following and press enter about:internets
A Don't Clog the Tubes random pipe generator shows, just like Windows' screensaver (3.1 if I remember correctly).

Here are some other Google Chrome shortcuts that are not yet documented:

chrome-resource://new-tab/ - opens a new tab without showing recent history

about:memory - shows the Stats for Nerds page

about:version - shows the installed version

about:plugins - shows which plugins you have installed

about:histograms - histograms (in plain text display) for different Chrome processes

about:dns - shows websites for which it prefetched DNS records

about:cache - what's currently stored in Chrome's cache

about:stats - Shhh! This page is secret (stats about internal processes)

about:network - shows information about current networking jobs (click on Show Current I/O Status to see real-time what happens in your browser)

about:crash - this will crash the current tab, making Google Chrome display the "Aw, Snap" message: "Something went wrong while displaying this webpage. To continue, press Reload or go to another page".

about:hang - if you type this on a opened tab, the process associated with that tab will be killed but the page will still show the information. However, if you try to do any actions on that page you'll get a prompt "The following page(s) have become unresponsive. You can wait for them to become responsive or kill them" and the Kill pages or Wait buttons.

view-cache:stats - more stats regarding your Chrome cache

chrome-resource://favicon - normally it should display the favicon only

If you know other shortcuts like these ones feel free to post them here.

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for your comment. Indeed its speed on handling sites that use JavaScripts intensively is amazing (uses some new V8 engine). However, to come is a list of things I don't like about Chrome, and guess what's first on that list (hint, starts with Robo and ends with ...).

Chrome also appears to have a blazing fast JavaScript engine. I haven't benchmarked it yet, but working on AJAX heavy applications is noticeably faster in Chrome. Sadly, until Roboform gets integrated, I will only be using Chrome on a few specific sites.

Claudiu, thanks for the list of cool Chrome features, great reading! Cheers - Jeremy

Launched just one week ago, Google Chrome really managed to generate some buzz. After using it for about 6 days, these are the things I like (for now) about it:

It's fast. Until now I considered Opera to be the fastest one, but after using Google Chrome on websites that take forever to load (i.e. Digg) on Firefox/IE, Chrome is my new winner. I don't know if it's because the engine they use (webkit), the fact that each tab it's actually a different process, or simply because their developers are that good, but Google Chrome's main advantage is that is fast and uses less resources than FireFox, IE or even Opera.

It's open source. The fact that it's open source gives me less reasons to doubt on what Google collects regarding my browsing habits, as if there was any suspicious code someone would have found it (then again, it's been only one week). Plus, open source means that plugins, addons, themes will be there to follow from 3rd party developers (just like FireFox). And full of hope I say that maybe a RoboForm addon will follow.

The Incognito window. It's not that I don't have the cache emptied each time I close my current main browser (Maxthon), but the Incognito mode Google Chrome gives you a certain trust that what you do on the web will be known only by you (and hopefully not by Google too). No wonder they call the Incognito window "porn mode". However, there are certain things that you don't want your employer to see you've visited (job sites), or your girlfriend (gift ideas) and so on.

Google Chrome's Task Manager. This is just lovely. You right-click Chrome's taskbar icon (or the top window of the browser), select Task Manager and there it is, a way to kill individual tabs in the browser that are slowing you down. Countless times I had problems with Maxthon/Firefox where a tab would simply block the entire session. Not to mention the Stats for Nerds feature where you see much more information about memory consumed by each tab. Bravo, any chance a keyboard shortcut will be added for this?

Type and search. You type a word in the address field, and you see search results for it. Same behavior Maxthon has and I love that they've added it in the first beta version.

Startup history, search downloads, history. In a similar way that Opera shows it, the Startup history page shows you the nine most visited websites from your browsing history (if you haven't been using Incognito mode). Plus, you get to use Google's search engine for the downloads and the history.

Scroll-wheel click-n-close. If you have multiple tabs opened, you can close one of the existing tabs by clicking on your scroll-wheel (if your mouse supports this). However I wonder why they haven't added the double-click to close behavior, but there's still time.

Import bookmarks and settings. You can import bookmarks, history and saved passwords from other browsers. Another plus.

Tabs on top of the address bar. Unlike the other browsers, they've moved the tabs above the address bar. I don't know if I like it because it's simply different, but I consider it to be more intuitive than the way the other browsers do it.

Shortcuts to web applications. Almost forgot about this, but I like their way of letting you create shortcuts for certain web applications (gmail, analytics) and when you double-click that from your desktop you can work only on that (no other things loaded to consume memory, like address bar, bookmarks, ...).

Paste and go. I remember the first browser to introduce this functionality was Opera, where you copy a link, go to the address bar, right-click and select Paste and Go. After that it was added in other browsers too, as in Maxthon. Google Chrome has it, and the nice part is that you don't have to select the entire existing address from the address bar to use the Paste and Go option, you simply have to right-click in there. Plus, if you have selected a bunch of text, the option transforms into Paste and Search.

Chrome Calculator. If you start writing in the address bar, Chrome returns suggestions based either on your history or its internal search. However, you can also use Google Calculator this way. Try typing 1230 divided by 5, you'll see that you get a Search Google for = 246 which is the result of the calculation. This works with many other things, for instance 10 km in miles will show you the exact conversion result. It seems not all conversions are available, as in Google Calculator, for instance currency conversions. Anyway, a nice trick.

Resizable text area. This is nice too, in Google Chrome you can resize text areas. For instance if you want to post a reply to this topic, you'll see in the text area where text is entered that the lower right corner can be dragged to enlarge it. This seems to work with text areas only.

Drag-and-drop. I've mentioned that you can drag tabs in between windows, or if you drag a tab outside Chrome's window it will detach. However, I just noticed that you can drag many other things outside Chrome's window. For instance, if you click an image and drag it outside Chrome's window and let go, that image will be saved on your computer. This works with hyperlinks too, if you drag a link and drop it outside Chrome it will create a shortcut to that page. Also, if a download is finished, you can drag that from the Downloads page of Google Chrome somewhere on your computer and it will be copied there.

Small other things. Like the fact you can right-click a link and tell Google Chrome to open it in a new Incognito window, or how you can select a piece of text and tell it to search for it, or the developer section (which I still wish would transform into something like Firebug) and not to mention the fact that you can play around with the opened tabs any way you want (move them from one window to another, drag them outside a window to create a new one).

Anyway, these were a couple of things I observed during the course of the 6 days I used Google Chrome from time to time. However, the major thing before I would completely switch to it would be a RoboForm integration. Until then, I'll use it from time to time when I want to read a page heavily loaded with JS. These were some things I like about Google Chrome, I'll do another post with what needs to be improved to make it the super-browser we all are still waiting for.
